Technical support for the legality

The IGC within its competence gives support to legality with a technical report and three administrative procedures.

Administrative procedures:

Document basic criteria for the identificatyion of geological hazards

Basic criteria for the study of Geological hazards identification (EIRG)
(Decree 1/2010, of 3 August, revised text of Planning law, articles 9, 51 and 85.5)
(Decree 305/2006 of 18 July, by approving the Regulations of the Planning law, articles 5, 59, 69, 72, 84 and 86)

The figures in urban planning must include information regarding to geological hazards. In view of the fact of the increasing planning figures under public information, the IGC, together with the Directorate General of Planning and Urbanism, weight up that the exposure of geohazards is systematized from the realization of a EIRG which satisfies minimum requirements. These requirements include the identification and characterization of the phenomena, potentially active or not, and the determination of susceptibility.

The aim of EIRG is a preliminary assessment of natural geological hazards in urban areas, developable areas and other areas that are susceptible of development, construction or public gathering.
